Club Car began in 2002 when Ed Darby, the owner of Parksley Drug Company, was bought out by a large drug store chain and given a very short period of time to close down. Ed was interested in keeping the lunch counter open for the locals who frequented it on a daily basis. Ed offered the building complete with all the lunch counter equipment to me for 90 days rent free. Ed had called the lunch counter “Club Car” in honor of Parksley’s railroad history. We opened the Club Car Cafe in December of 2002 offering breakfast and lunch 5 days a week. After a few months it appeared that we could survive and we leased the building from Ed Darby for a very reasonable price until 2011 when we purchased the building. During that time we progressed into a full-service restaurant open 6 days a week with a full-service bar offering good old eastern shore home cooking with charcoal grilled steaks on the weekends. In December of 2015 we purchased the bank building next door. This allowed us to add new rest rooms, a 75 seat banquet room, and a remodeled kitchen. We now serve breakfast, lunch and dinner 6 days a week featuring home made eastern shore comfort food, daily specials, great pizza, and award winning steaks, ribs, and burgers. we have 5 pool tables including a 9 foot Brunswick gold crown that was played at the US 9 ball championships. We have 4 state of the art electronic dart boards, 3 steel tip dart boards, and a touch tunes juke box with the best sound on the shore. we hope you will stop by for some great food and eastern shore hospitality. As we say “Come for the Food – Stay for the Fun”
